Synthesis of Functional Cyclodextrin Derivatives

 (a) Mono-substituted derivatives with aromatic amino acids: Detail maping of glucose residues and orientational preferences were studied by NMR spectroscopy in solution. Supramolecular polymers were found in the crystalline state (J. Org. Chem. 2003, 68, 8550) organized via self-inclusion.

(b) Development of methodologies and synthesis of various per-substituted derivatives, used as key intermediates for further functionalizations (J. Inclus. Phenom. Macrocyclic. Chem. 2002, 44, 351; Carbohydr. Res. 2004, 339, 1189-1194).

(c) Synthesis of positively and negatively charged cyclodextrins. Study of their complex forming ability. Study of the influence of the cyclodextrin substitution on the inclusion orientation of guests with inherent dipole moment(Supramolecular Chem. 2004, 16 (8), 587).

(d) Synthesis of per-substituted CDs with novel properties.
