Short CV of Nikos Zouridakis

B.Sc. in Physics from the University of Athens (1974).

Docteur de l’ Universite Pierre et Marie Curie (1977) and Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Patras (1984). Dr. N. Zouridakis has worked as a researcher in the laboratory of Dynamic Geology of the University of Paris VI (1978-1979) and in the laboratory of Isotopic Hydrology of the University of Paris XI at Orsay (1980-1981). He was the recipient of an UNESCO scholarship, as well as of a scholarship from the Greek-French Cooperation.

Scientific collaborator in NCSR “Demokritos” in 1981-1983. Since 1984 he has been working as a researcher in the Isotope Hydrology Laboratory of Physical Chemistry of NCSR “Demokritos”. He has performed dating of mortars of Minoan and Mycenaean palaces by methods of Isotope Hydrology. These works are cited in the book “Science based in archaeology” by M. Aitken (Longman 1990). He has taught the “General Physics” course in the University of Ioannina (1989-1991). He teaches the “Archaeometric Methods” and “Isotope Hydrology” courses to the graduate students of the Institute of Physical Chemistry of NCSR “Demokritos”. Since 1994 he has organized and coordinated the research activities of a group of young scientists, aiming at the development of the techniques of Isotope Hydrology in Greece.

Since 2000 he has been the Responsible of the Laboratory and has applied the isotopic methods of 18O, 13C, Tr, 14C, 222Rn for the solution of problems concerning the management of water resources in many regions across Greece (West Crete, Thace, Central Macedonia, Chalkidiki, Lake Vegoritida, Lake Trichonida etc.) and Cyprus.
